E-2D ADVANCED HAWKEYE Operationally proven Multi-domain

E-2D Advanced Hawkeye is an airborne command and control aircraft ready for the

high-end fight in maritime, littoral and overland environments.

E-2D provides 360° simultaneous air and surface surveillance with the ability to detect

and track low-flying, high-speed air contacts at long ranges and in high clutter environments.

E-2D is the latest E-2 variant, with state-of-the-art capabilities that build upon its 60-year legacy

as a cornerstone of the United States Navy’s carrier air wing.

Decision Dominance

E-2D’s all-weather, ultra-high frequency radar is capable of simultaneously tracking over

3,000 targets, equipping joint forces with critical, real-time information powered by data

sharing and visualization.

With proven operational flexibility, E-2D is a critical enabler for Combined Joint All-Domain

Command and Control (CJADC2) with demonstrated success operating in all phases

of conflict.

E-2D’s expansive mission set includes integrated air and missile defense, airborne

early warning, border security, intelligence operations, and emergency relief.

Persistence and Versatility

E-2D can be configured with an aerial refueling probe or wet outer wing, providing

combat-relevant mission endurance of over 12 hours. The aircraft is purpose built and has

been right-sized for strategic and tactical combat operations.

E-2D’s ruggedized design, engineered for the punishing shipboard environment, is well

suited for austere environments and allows operations from unprepared or non-standard

Global Interoperability and Sustainment

Four international partners make up the Hawkeye community, which includes over 100

aircraft worldwide. Built to integrate with joint and coalition forces, the E-2D has demonstrated exceptional performance in real-world operations, seamlessly interoperating with fifth-generation

aircraft. Provisioning is underway to ensure interoperability with sixth-generation aircraft.

E-2D readiness benefits from a strong global network of performance-driven logistics

support, including common spare parts, validated training programs, and robust maintenance resources that enable rapid integration of evolving technologies, predictive maintenance and effective operations.

Active Production Line

E-2D’s production line is actively delivering capability to U.S. and allied nations from a

state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in St. Augustine, Florida. The active line enables

competitive pricing and on-time and on-cost deliveries. The facility also showcases Northrop

Grumman’s industry-leading digital engineering and advanced manufacturing capabilities, and

is in close proximity to the E-2D’s engineering, sustainment, and development teams in

Melbourne, Florida.

Trusted Acquisition Partner

Close partnership between Northrop Grumman and the U.S. Navy has resulted in E-2D being

named a top five acquisition program in 2023 and 2024.

Mission Systems

E-2D’s advanced mission suite consists of:

APY-9 RADAR

All-weather airborne early warning radar detects small, highly maneuverable targets over land and sea.

APX-122A INTERROGATOR

Cooperative airborne interrogator that identifies friend or foe (IFF) transponders on civilian and military aircraft.

ALQ-217 ELECTRONIC SUPPORT MEASURES (ESM)

This system is designed to provide 360° detection, interception and geolocation of RF signals.

AUTOMATIC IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM (AIS)

AIS is a sensor to identify and track vessels.

EMBEDDED GPS INERTIAL NAVIGATION SYSTEM (EGI-M)

EGI-M uses satellite and internal sensors to enable accurate navigation regardless of environment.

TACTICAL 4TH OPERATOR (T4O)

Digital, all-glass cockpit display that improves situation awareness by enabling the co-pilot to perform mission systems operator tasks.

SECURE COMMUNICATIONS

Six ARC 210 radios, a family of digital aircraft radios with embedded communications security enable secure ultra-high frequency (UHF), very high frequency (VHF) and high-frequency (HF)

communications, secure voice, and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) chat.

DATA SHARING

Link 16, with Multi-functional Information Distribution System (MIDS) is a secure, high-speed data link that enables real-time tactical data exchange. The digital internal communication system supports high-volume data and information sharing.

Current technical baseline - Tech roadmap ensures a continuous, state-of-the-art system to outpace emerging threats.
