The United States Air Force relies on Thales Deployable – Instrument Landing Systems

The United States Air Force (USAF)’s activitiesto establish air superiority and support ground combat units often require the use of secure airfields in remote and challenging areas. Thales Deployable – Instrument Landing System (D-ILS), a compact and movable variant of the standard ILS, helps them accomplish this mission.

  • The D-ILS offers significantly improved reliability, maintainability and supportability over legacy deployable precision approach radar systems.
  • Thales D-ILS will provide the equivalent of fixed-based Instrument Landing System capability at tactical airfields and in diverse environment such as natural disaster or humanitarian relief effort areas.
  • This is the third order for 5  testing units and 1 production unit
  • Thales partners with the United States Armed Forces on a number of programmes, including the Thales TopOwl tactical helmet Mounted Sight and Display for the US Marine Pilots on the Cobra-Z et huey-1Y  the Thales Flash Dipping Sonar for the US Navy and the  AN/PRC-148C Tactical Radio for the US Army
